CNC Programmer Job Description

CNC Programmer Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operating the machines.
  • Reading technical drawings and setting up the machines in accordance with the blueprints.
  • Using computer software to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly.
    • GIBSCAM (Required), MasterCam (Considered an Asset), Mazatrol Experience (Required)
  • Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications.
  • Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality.
  • Consider tools required to cut various types of materials and program machines accordingly
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arise.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance such as cleaning and sharpening.
  • Train new employees in how to properly operate CNC machines and programs.
  • Complete and Maintain Programming Files and Set-up sheets for each new and re-occurring
    project.


Qualifications for CNC Programmer

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing setting is required.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical problems that arise.
  • The ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential.
  • Should have a positive and professional attitude.
  • Available to work weekends and overtime.
  • Capable of standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift to 25 pounds for short periods of time.

Position: Quality Control Manager

What You Will Do:

  • Read blueprints and specifications
  • Monitor operations to ensure that they meet production standards
  • Recommend adjustments to the assembly or production process
  • Inspect, test, or measure materials or products being produced
  • Measure products with rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers
  • Operate electronic inspection equipment and software
  • Accept or reject finished items
  • Remove all products and materials that fail to meet specifications
  • Report inspection and test data such as weights, temperatures, grades, moisture content, and quantities inspected

Who You Are:

  • Possess at least 8+ years of related experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Previous experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work independently when required, and as a team player
  • Willingness and ability to lead and motivate others

Position: Shop Lead (Mills)

What You Will Do:

  • Ensure all assigned work is completed in a timely manner
    • Assigning and explaining duties to operators
    • Monitoring work progress and compliance with internal policies and procedures
    • Training and assisting operators
  • Must be able to program and operate machinery
  • Ensure completed programs are saved and updated appropriately, from the machine to the programming computer
  • Must be a team leader, capable of leading and assisting mill operators in their everyday duties
  • Responsible for the quality and quantity of work produced
  • Responsible for training team members, and ensuring work is done in a safe manner
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, work instructions
  • Reports matters of utmost urgency to Operations Manager
  • Maintain ISO 9001:2015 quality specifications by performing quality control procedures
  • Ensure work orders are organized, dated, and stamped
  • Limits/monitors the use of shop consumables
  • Participate in continuous improvement measures
  • Regard safety as a high priority
  • Ensure the workspace is clean and maintained

Who You Are:

  • Possess at least 7+ years of related experience (minimum)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Natural leader with excellent communicative skills
  • Effective problem solver
  • Previous experience in a leadership role considered an asset

What You Will Do:

  • Must be able to setup, program, and operate machinery
  • Selecting and running the correct programs
  • Responsible for the quality and quantity of work produced
  • Responsible for training team members, and ensuring work is done in a safe manner
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, work instructions
  • Reports matters of utmost urgency to Operations Manager
  • Maintain ISO 9001:2015 quality specifications by performing quality control procedures
  • Ensure work orders are organized, dated, and stamped
  • Participate in continuous improvement measures
  • Regard safety as a high priority
  • Ensure the workspace is clean and maintained

Who You Are:

  • Possess at least 2+ years of related experience (minimum)
  • Previous experience using CAD considered an asset
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Effective problem solver

Position: Lathe Operator

What You Will Do:

  • Operate and set up machines to perform repetitive machining operations
  • Able to load/save programs
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
  • Must be able to comprehend and fill out set up sheets as required
  • Verify and record dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring equipment (i.e micrometers, calipers)
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery
  • Participate in continuous improvement measures
  • Regard safety as a high priority
  • Perform other tasks as required and assigned
  • Ensure the workspace is clean and maintained

Who You Are:

  • Possess at least 2+ years of related experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Previous experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work independently when required, and as a team player
  • Willingness to learn, be trained, and apply your skills in a variety of roles on the shop floor
